“I saw this young lady in the Boston Public Library during my apprenticeship days with John Garo and invited her to Garo’s studio so that I might photograph her. She was gracious and consented to pose for a twenty-one-year-old student. Although she was the subject of my first portrait, regrettably I did not get her name.”
