“I had the pleasure of photographing Prince Charles with his parents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, when he was three, but was happy to make an official portrait again when he was 26. I photographed him in a suit at Government House, during a State Visit to Canada. I also requested he sit for me in an open necked shirt since he combined the age-old traditions with the more relaxed mood of his generation. I hope that this portrait conveys the directness, sympathy, and disarming lack of affectation I found in His Royal Highness.”
