Fulton Sheen was an American bishop and archbishop of the Catholic Church, known for his preaching and especially his work on television and radio. Sheen worked on three books with Yousuf Karsh: This is the Mass, 1958;  This is the Holy Land, and This is Rome (1959); and These Are The Sacraments (1962).

Sheen’s beatification will occur in September this year. He was born on this day, May 8, 1895 (d. 1979).
