Nora McDonough was a caregiver for Yousuf Karsh and a special friend to Mrs. Estrellita Karsh for many years. Nora recognized the importance of knowing the patient and their family, and she was committed to honoring the sacredness of that patient-family relationship.

In 2013, Estrellita Karsh established a collaborative program between the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, so medical residents can have access to study art.

In 2011, Estrellita Karsh endowed the position of Visiting Professor in Women’s Health, the first of its kind in the nation, at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
In 2008, Estrellita Karsh endowed the position of Visiting Professor of Nursing at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Established by Estrellita Karsh, and inaugurated in 2008, the visiting professorship brings to CHEO a distinguished physician from another medical center to share his or her expertise.

Estrellita Karsh endowed the emergency department of CHEO in 2005, fulfilling Yousuf’s wish that no child would be without emergency medical care.
