Barnett Newman (1905-1970) was an American artist, regarded as one of the major figures of abstract expressionism. Karsh was busy on the day he photographed Newman, April 1, 1969 – he also photographed NASA astronaut Frank Borman! Unfortunately, Borman has yet to be digitized. But watch this space, as it were.
