Cecil Blount DeMille was an American filmmaker and actor who made 70 feature films, spanning both the silent and sound eras, between 1914 and 1958. Widely regarded as a founding figure of American cinema, he was also one of the most commercially successful producer-directors in film history, with several of his films simultaneously dominating the box office.
