Sotheby’s has announced that an edition of Henry Moore’s Festival of Britain bronze “Reclining Figure: Festival” is expected to break auction records at its November modern art sale in New York. An exclusive in The Guardian says the work that has divided opinion; it will be sold by Sotheby’s with an estimate of $30m-$40m. It was first exhibited as a centerpiece of the Festival of Britain in 1951 “It was startling and unsettling. Many adored it. Some hated it. A good number were amused by it.” Yousuf Karsh photographed Henry Moore on four occasions.
