In their obituary, which is illustrated with this portrait, The New York Times describes Ralph Ablon as “An erudite, pipe-puffing chemistry major.” Ablon was president of the Ogden Corporation, and oversaw the acquisition of dozens of companies. In 1991, Crains magazine cited him as “bucking the pervasive anti-woman bias” when he became “the rare C.E.O. who appoints a woman as a top executive.”
Ablon was photographed by Karsh in 1969 for Finance magazine. See a list of the other Finance Sitters.
