William O. Douglas (1898-1980) was an American jurist who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1939 to 1975. He was photographed in 1944 for LIFE magazine and again 1963. We have recently added this later portrait to the website thanks to an inquiry from someone fortunate enough to own a print of it!
