John Davison Rockefeller Jr. was an American financier and philanthropist. He was photographed by Karsh in 1955, and the sitting record says the assignment was for the Williamsburg Foundation, which Rockefeller Jr. helped found, and which is a living-history museum and private foundation presenting a part of the historic district in the city of Williamsburg, Virginia. Rockefeller was born on this day, January 29, in 1874 (d. 1960).
